Companies House: two officer records, one name, two dates of birth

The UK register holds two director records under the identical full legal name Narenderkumar Dharamveer Manoj Madnani, both British, both resident in the Emirates — and each states a different year of birth. Companies House says it does not verify what is filed.

Companies House holds a second director record under the identical name, date of birth November 1970, nationality British, place of residence United Arab Emirates.
That second record shows one appointment: director of KULCZYK INVESTMENTS S.A. (company number FC028020, an overseas company registered at 11 Rue Aldringen, Luxembourg), appointed 19 December 2007, resigned 31 July 2015.
Aurelian Oil & Gas Limited was incorporated on 10 December 1982, is a private limited company, remains active, and has its registered office at 27/28 Eastcastle Street, London W1W 8DH.
Kulczyk Investments S.A. opened its first UK establishment on 12 November 2007 and remains active on the register.

Unresolved

Whether the two records describe the same individual. The register does not link them and this archive does not assert that they are or are not the same person.
Which year of birth is correct. The ICIJ record for Flintree Holdings Limited does not carry a date of birth.

What the register shows

Search the United Kingdom’s statutory company register for the name that appears in the Pandora Papers — Narenderkumar Dharamveer Manoj Madnani — and it returns two director records.

The first gives a date of birth of November 1972, nationality British, place of residence Dubai, and a correspondence address at the Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Road. It carries one directorship: Aurelian Oil & Gas Limited, a London private company incorporated in 1982, held from 3 March 2010 to 25 January 2013.

The second gives a date of birth of November 1970, nationality British, place of residence United Arab Emirates. It carries one directorship: Kulczyk Investments S.A., the Luxembourg-registered vehicle of the Polish investor Jan Kulczyk, held from 19 December 2007 to 31 July 2015.

Same full legal name. Same nationality. Same region of residence. Two birth years.

The caveat that has to come with it

Companies House prints a warning on every page of its own service: it does not check the accuracy of the information filed with it.

More importantly, the UK register does not maintain a single verified identity per person. It creates an officer record from what each company files, and it makes no attempt to merge records that may describe the same individual. Two records with differing details are therefore an ordinary feature of the register, and are as consistent with a clerical difference between two filings as with anything else.

This page records what the register contains. It draws no conclusion from it, and the reader should draw none either without more.

Why it is on the file anyway

Because the identity question is the spine of any diligence exercise on this subject. His business profiles use “Manoj Narender Madnani”. The offshore registry and the UK register use “Narenderkumar Dharamveer Manoj Madnani”. A researcher searching one form will not find the other.

Setting the forms of the name side by side, with the registry numbers attached, is the single most useful thing this archive can do for anyone who has to check him properly.
